Brief History

Spencer Sensei was first exposed to Aikido during a visit to the Hombu dojo in the 1950's while serving as a medic with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. His early exposure to O-Sensei convinced this former karate-ka to pursue the Way of Harmony.
He began his Aikido training in New York City under Yoshimitsu Yamada, 8th degree black belt, shihan, and former chairman of the board of the United States Aikido Federation (U.S.A.F) Eastern Region.
Spencer Sensei was a student of Yamada Shihan and received all of his promotions from him. He was promoted to 6th degree black belt in 2011.
